#House of Cards Season 2

One of my favorite shows returned to Netflix last Friday.  In a sign of love Netflix released House of Cards Season 2 to its many minions.  Immediately I watched the first episode and by the great beard of Zeus did they ever hook me in.  As per usual I will not give any spoilers.  But if you liked the first season, you will love the second season.  If you loved the first season you may have a happy feeling tingling in your nether regions.  PS, I loved the first season.  Hahahaha......TMI.

Season 2 of HOC has added Molly Parker.  She plays Jackie Sharp.  She is Frank Underwood's replacement as The House Majority Whip.  Molly Parker is a great actress.  I have liked her work since Men with Brooms.  She was also on Deadwood.  She was a nice surprise as her work is always high quality.

I have been following the progress of season three a little bit and I have heard production has been delayed as the taxation for film companies and such will be changing in Maryland where the show is filmed.   I am sure things will work out and that production will continue.  I forsee more Golden Globes for this show.  I also have a feeling a main stream station may want to buy the rights for syndication in the future, if Netflix is up for that.

Youtube

I have been batting around an idea in my head about doing a solo podcast or video show on the youtube.  I like geeking out and want to do a weekly or biweekly show about stuff I geek out over.  Movies, and TV mostly.  I also collect comics, and I have a deep affection to vinyl as well.

This winter has royaly sucked, however its been great for catching up on movies and television seasons.  I have caught up on Raising Hope, The Walking Dead, Sherlock, and I am almost finished the 2 seasons of Lilyhammer.  I have watched a ton of movies as well.  The most recent The Last Stand.  For a Schwarzenegger film it was just what you would expect.  Lame story line but lots of action.  I enjoyed it even with glaring holes in the plot.  I have been feeling nostalgic for Chris Farley thanks to Rob Ford and all his hijinks.   I have watched Tommy Boy and Blacksheep.  His first two starring roles and his best two starring roles.  If you are a Farley fan like I am both hold up decently.  I loved his supporting role in Norm McDonald's Dirty Work as well.  Yesterday I watched Happy Gilmore and Supertroopers.  Just older comedies that I will always love.

Wifey and I watched Lone Survivor on Saturday.  It starts out very slow, but it sets up the rest of the story.  Its based on true events and when the action hits you get sucked right in.  If you are a fan of movies about war you will love this one.

Keep an eye and ear open for this blog to come to life on YouTube.

Been Watchin Stuff

I have been playing some catch up on a few television series.  Over the holidays I caught up on Raising Hope.  One of the funniest shows I had heard about but never watched.  Its from the same people who brought us the wonderfully brilliant My Name is Earl.  Same humor different story.  I also caught up on one of my favorite shows of all time.  Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia.   This show reminds me of a live action South Park where the kids are grown up.  And just yesterday I had totally caught up on The Walking Dead.  I lost complete faith in this show a few episodes into season 2.  However I stomached through it on Netflix and am I ever happy I did.  I am looking forward to it returning this Sunday.   The last 3 SNL's of the year were really good.  Paul Rudd, John Goodman, and the double whammy of Justin Timberlake and Jimmy Fallon was simply splendid.   Beckie and I watched the first two seasons of Sherlock.  Its excellent.  Can't wait for season 3 which is airing in the UK now.  I read a couple of days ago that season 4 and 5 have already been planned out.  If you have Netflix watch it.  Another really good show from England is The Inbetweeners.  One of the funniest shows I have ever watched.  After the show stopped airing they made a movie, and I hear that a sequal is on the way.  So funny.  And also on Netflix.

I watched a few movies.  Machete Kills.  It was good, had the same humor and violence of the first one, even dipping into the absurd like Desperado.  Which I watched the day after Machete.  I peeped an older move.  Suburbia.  Terrible acting and random tragedies really dated this movie.  Worth a watch but go in not expecting an Oscar worthy movie.  I watched a bizarrely entertaining movie named Movie 43.  Its basically a bunch of skits mashed together.  I laughed outloud a few times.  Its full of stars too.  Olympus has Fallen dragged on to long.  I wasn't a huge fan of it.  Lots of action though.  Wyatt and I have been watching the two Smurf movies almost everyday for more than a month.  I have to admit they are pretty good.  However I think I have seem them enough.

Sons of Anarchy

The season finale Tuesday night blew my mind.  I was expecting a confrontation between Gemma and Tara.  But my sweet baby Jesus riding a bicycle.  What an outcome.  No spoilers here but if you haven't seen it check it out folks.  I sum the scene up as brutal.  Just freakin brutal.  This season someone has died in every episode I think.  I can't wait to see how next season, the final season plays out.

I have an eerie feeling no one is going to get out alive.  I would be quite happy if that was the outcome.  What a fun ride it would be.  Guns blazing, relation ships exploded, and the town of Charming will never be the same.  I hope its not a happy ending where the club goes legit.  That would be disappointing.  I have a feeling there will be a huge body count and lots of blood shed.

I am just watching Nashville now.  More of a soap opera that SOA, but its pretty good.  Keep checking back suckas.  Enjoy watching what you watch.

SOA

Literally watching Tuesday nights episode of Sons of Anarchy.  Wow.  No spoilers here as I wouldn't want to ruin it but what a great episode.  This season the body count has been crazy.  Lots of blood.  A violent show that stepped up the violence.  I have been entertained each and every episode.  This is easily  one of my top 3 shows.  In order Sopranos, Breaking Bad, Sons of Anarchy.

I am a little saddened that next season will be the last for SOA.  Now my top three shows will all be finished.  Is there going to be a show to step up and be the best on tv?  Well there is a rumored Sons of Anarchy prequel.  It will see the formation of the club so we will meet John Teller.  I like that idea.  I hope it happens.  There is a Breaking Bad spinoff with Saul.  So who knows, shows with some familiarity may be the next big thing.  Although my money will go with another AMC Original.  Preacher.  Another comic book/graphic novel coming to life ala Walking Dead.

Walking Dead is a great show, although it doesn't have a mass appeal that any of the above shows have.  Mind you it has amazing ratings, and talks of a spinoff show but people who like Walking Dead love Zombies and the zombie genre.  I am one of them, but its a select group of people.

Finally

I bought The Man of Steel Tuesday and finally watched it tonight/this morning.  I am on nights the next two days so I stay up late leading into the first shift.  To keep me occupied and awake I tend to watch movies and catch up on my recorded shows.  But tonight I was excited to watch The Man of Steel.  DC's most iconic character was brought back to the big screen.this past summer and it didn't disappoint.   Well it didn't disappoint me thats for sure.  Griwing uo Superman was my favorite super hero.  As I got older I drifted into more of the Marvel Universe.  But I always hoped that a Superman movie would get made when cgi and special effects became so good.  Superman Returns was a huge letdown.  Bad casting, a terrible script, not even Kevin Spacey could save it.

When I heard that DC and Warner Bros. were rebooting the franchise I got excited.  After its release people poo pooed it.  Sure Clark was a hobo, drifting from town to town and taking odd jobs.  Sure was a whiney bastard as a kid.  But hey imagine the burden and the responsibility he would feel?  I also enjoyed the epic fight scenes.  Others were pissed and were complaining that he basically helped to demolish Metropolis.   Uhm its a movie.  Meant to entertain.  Have no fear Metropolis will be rebuilt by the time Batman vs Superman comes out.

That's all for now.  If you haven't seen it see it.  It's awesome.  Later.

Brooklyn Nine Nine

Andy Samdberg made me laugh on SNL.  He made me laugh in Hotrod.  I was apprehensive when I watched That's my
Boy, but I laughed.  So when I heard he was making a sitcom for Fox.  I was again apprehensive.  Brooklyn Nine-Nine foes not disappoint.   The entire cast is funny.  And I was pleasantly surprised with Terry Crewes as a major cast member.

When I first started seeing commercials I kept thinking this will mot last.  But after the first episode my thoughts changed.  I am not sure about the longevity but it may last 2-3 seasons.  Its a solid funny show.  Not your typical cop show that's for sure.

Samberg plays Detective Jake Peralta, he is arrogant and cocky, for no reason.  He screws stuff up and blows cases all the time.  Joe Lo Truglio you may remember from Superbad.  He's the guy thay hit Jonah Hill with his car.  He plays Detective Charles Boyle.  Boyle is a spineless push over and worships Peralta.  He is also in love with Stephanie Beatriz's character Detective Rosa Diaz.  I have a feeling that Peralta and Melissa Fumero's Detective Amy Santiago.  There is ansurprising twist as Captain Holt is gay.  He is played by the hilarious Andre Braugher.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine is a great show.  I am a fan.  Its too bad I had my doubts.  The real world has jaded me beyond repair I guess.  Hahaha.
